Role Description
Enlaza is seeking a Computational Scientist/ Senior Scientist / Principal Scientist to help design and develop first-in-class covalent protein therapeutics. The scientist will rationally design novel protein-based therapeutics integrating structural, chemical and biological data, and using cutting-edge computational methodologies, artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques. This is a full-time position located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA, with flexibility for remote or hybrid work.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement computational and machine learning approaches to design protein drugs and optimize binding scaffolds
- Proactively assess potential structural liabilities and propose optimal development options
- Work with protein engineers and biologists in streamlining an iterative design-compute-build-test-learn workflow
- Discover sequence/structure-function relationships by leveraging experimental data
- Work with subject matter experts on cross-functional teams to advance discovery projects from target identification, protein drug design and optimization through to candidate nomination
- Contribute to ongoing innovation within the company by staying up-to-date on the latest trends in machine learning and computational drug design, and applying these technologies to develop new drug discovery methods

Required Skills and Experience
- A PhD in structural bioinformatics, computational biology, physics or a related field
- Hands-on experience with design and modeling of protein drugs and protein-protein interactions using state-of-the-art commercial and open-source molecular modeling tools
- Prior experience in applying computational modeling in the biopharmaceutical industry is a plus
- Strong ability to communicate ideas and results in a cross-functional environment
- Experience in scripting to develop custom computational workflows
- Ability to leverage experimental data to inform and refine computational approaches
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms
